iPhonespies featured a really cool app on their blog this week, and if you’re a member of AAA and own an iPhone, you’ll want to head right to the app store and grab this one. If you’re stranded on the road, you can skip the long wait on the phone to explain to an operator where you are and instead just let your fingertips do the work for you. The app will use the GPS on the phone to locate you and send roadside assistance or provide information on the nearest AAA branch or AAA approved repair shops. Of course, the app is free but you’ll need to be a member to actually get assistance. You can join from your iPhone, too. Smart, smart folks at AAA!

And while we’re on the topic of AAA, if you are a member (and I am) you should also check out the iPhone app that they provide for discounts – AAA Discounts. Everyone knows that if you show your AAA card at specific establishments you’ll get a member discount, but this app will use your GPS to see what businesses near you offer discounts and also let you search by discount type.

Just another way that AAA continues to provide great service to it’s members. And no, I wasn’t paid anything to write this post. Search for AAA in the app store to find both of these, I’d link you to where they exist on the AAA site but you have to enter your zip once you get there for a customized experience.

This must be a trend lately in app dev, as MINI just released an app for owners of this adorable car to get assistance with their vehicles as well. It’s a lovely trend, let’s continue to add value to existing relationships!
